Lakewood Ranch man dies after being hit by car

Lakewood Ranch's Tabah N. Baker, 47, died after being struck by a car while he walked on the right lane of State Road 70 at 56th Court East on Tuesday night.

A Nissan Maxima driven by Ellenton's Harry Quinter, 74, was going eastbound on State Road 70 in the right lane about 9 p.m. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Quinter did not see Baker in the roadway and struck him with the right front of his vehicle.

Baker was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

An investigation into the incident continues.
