Young Playwrights Festival honors winners

Florida Studio Theatre celebrated 25 years of its Write A Play Program, as well as the winners of its Young Playwrights Festival this Saturday, May 21. 

Following two performances and a ceremony honoring the educator of the year, the awards ceremony began. In addressing the packed Gompertz Theatre, Associate Director Kate Alexander spoke on the importance of fostering this type of creativity in young students.

"We need you writers," she said. "You're the ones who create the words for actors to bring to life. We need your words — your important words. Congratulations, and keep writing. The world needs you."
