Two are dead and one is injured in the GreyHawk Landing community after a domestic dispute turned violent early Tuesday morning.

A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report states David Mahoney Jr., who was staying with his parents in GreyHawk Landing, killed his wife, Alicia Mahoney, before killing himself around midnight.

His mother, Sharron Mahoney, was injured in the incident.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Bristow said Alicia and David Jr. Mahoney were separated. Alicia Mahoney was living in Volusia County, but was visiting.

The report states the two were at a restaurant Monday night and began arguing. David Mahoney Jr. left the restaurant and returned to the GreyHawk.

A short time later, Alicia Mahoney got a ride back to her in-law’s residence. David Mahoney Jr. greeted his wife in the driveway. The two walked into the garage and again argued. David Mahoney Jr. retrieved a firearm from a vehicle in the driveway and entered the garage, where he shot Alicia and then himself.

Sharron Mahoney was standing behind Alicia at the time shots were fired and sustained two gunshot wounds to her right foot. She was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the report states.

“She’s going to be OK,” Bristow said.
