From Longbeach Village to Bay Isles, the Longboat Key Garden Club’s 40th annual Home and Garden Tour will feature six picturesque homes from around the Key, each unique in style and architecture. Take a peek inside the homes to be featured on the tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5.

King Home

6832 Pine St.

Sherry King discovered this home when she was a little girl growing up on Longboat Key.

Where to buy tickets

Tickets to the 40th annual Home and Garden Tour are $25, which are tax-deductible and give admission to all six homes. Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Longboat Key Garden Club’s various grants and scholarships.

For more information, call 383-8030 or 383-4818.

“One day, I got off my bicycle and was here at this house and thought that someday, I will live in a house like this,” King said. “One day, I was driving around and decided to go on the north end, and there was a for sale sign in front of this house. It was fate.”

King, an artist, bought the house in 2012 and extensively remodeled and updated the property, which was built in 1971.

King’s eccentric personality is reflected in the home, and she decorated the house herself after the remodel. The home features some of her own artwork in addition to other whimsical pieces.

“It’s comfortable,” King said. “It’s not cookie cutter, but it speaks to you. It says ‘Come on in and stay for a while.”
