Tunes like Tower of Power's "What is hip?" and Marvin Gaye's "Heard it through the Grapevine" echoed across Sarasota Bay for Friday Fest Sept 18 at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

On the lawn music lovers set up lawn chairs and blankets to take in the tunes of Reverend Barry and the Funktastic Soul featuring the Hellacious Horns. Soul enthusiasts grooved to the music on an informal dance floor and made requests to the band for funk favorites. The event was the conclusion of the monthly Friday Fest concert series for the summer.
