Families come together for Phillippi spaghetti dinner

Phillippi Shores Elementary School hosts Welcome Back Spaghetti dinner for students and families.

The forecast was cloudy with a chance of spaghetti and meatballs for students at Phillippi Shores Elementary School Thursday.

More than 150 children, parents and grandparents were in attendance to enjoy a meal with their families at the Welcome Back Spaghetti dinner. Spaghetti with or without meatballs, garlic toast, salad, chocolate chip cookies and refreshments were on the menu.

Administrators came up with the idea while looking for a way to welcome back students and their families at the beginning of the school year.  New Phillippi Shores Assistant Principal Kristi Jarvis helped coordinate the event.

"We decided we wanted to a have a moment to bring families together and welcome them back," Jarvis said.
