Residents filled Main Street for the opportunity to thank local veterans during the annual Downtown Sarasota Veterans Day Parade Wednesday morning.

Thousands of parade goers donned patriotic colors and many waved American flags to show their support. City officials walked in the parade as well as local law enforcement. Chief of Police Bernadette DiPino stopped to shake hands and thank veterans along the parade route.
