Heritage Harbour green lights road repairs

Heritage Harbour residents: Your neighborhood might be noisy this month.

Within the next few weeks, Palmetto-based Gator Graving and Paving will start resurfacing the asphalt of three areas of the community's roads: a section of westbound Stone Harbour Loop; eastbound Camden Harbour Loop at the Heritage Isles Way intersection; and Heritage Isles Way, north of Quail Greens Way.

The areas are small, and repairs are not anticipated to delay drivers. No road closures are expected throughout the 48 hours of roadwork.

The projects are part of $750,000-plus multiphased plan to fix roads within the community.

Heritage Harbour South Community Development District Engineer Rick Schappacher estimates damage to the roadways was caused by heavy vehicles, such as garbage trucks, braking abruptly.

At their June 2 meeting, CDD supervisors approved the projects, which range in price from $999 to $13,350.

New businesses celebrate openings

East County residents have expanded their retail and restaurant options with the opening of several new stores.

Culver’s, known for its burgers, soups and salads, chicken fingers and ice cream, celebrated its grand opening June 11, at its newest location, 5750 Ranch Lake Blvd., Bradenton, in River Club Plaza, anchored by the Walmart Supercenter.

Last week, Microsoft also opened a new retail store inside The Mall at University Town Center, and Fit2Run, previously located off Cooper Creek Boulevard, reopened in a new space inside The Mall at UTC last week after moving from a space in The Shoppes at UTC, off Cooper Creek Boulevard.
