Incumbent Commissioner Phill Younger raised $6,400 during the first reporting period for the town’s March 10 general municipal election, more than any other commission candidate.

Younger’s challenger for the at-large seat he has held since 2010, Gene Jaleski, filed a notification of no activity in his campaign account for the reporting period of Jan. 1 through Jan. 7.

Jack Daly, who is seeking the District 4 seat, raised $5,825 during the same period. His opponent, Larry Grossman, reported a $100 donation that he made to his campaign.

The deadline to register to vote in the election is Feb. 9.

Voters can request absentee ballots for the March 10 election and future elections by printing out, signing and returning a request form from the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections website,

votemanatee.com, or the Sarasota Supervisor of Elections website, sarasotavotes.com. Requests for absentee ballots must be made by 5 p.m. six days prior to the election. Completed absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Early voting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 2 through March 7, at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, for both Sarasota and Manatee voters.

Election Day hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Manatee County voters cast ballots at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive, and Sarasota County residents vote at Town Hall.

Although the commission includes five district seats and two at-large seats, all town voters elect commissioners for all seven seats, regardless of the district in which they reside.
