Two East County teenagers have died following a one-vehicle collision with a tree along Lakewood Ranch Boulevard in October.

A Florida Highway Patrol reports 17-year-old Brendan Shreve and 15-year-old Jared Duran died as a result of the accident, which occurred at 5:05 a.m. just north of Clubhouse Drive on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.

A FHP report released today states Shreve’s 2012 Mercedes was traveling southbound on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, north of Clubhouse Drive, when he failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle struck the raised center median curb and traveled into the median, striking a tree. The rear section of the vehicle separated from the main body at impact and into the southbound lanes of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. The front section traveled onto the northbound lanes of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.

Both the driver and his passenger were pronounced dead on scene.

FHP continues to investigate the crash and speed is being considered as a possible factor in this crash, the report states.

Shreve and Duran were students at Lakewood Ranch High School.
