With six days until school starts for Manatee County students, is your child registered for the 2015-2016 school year?

If not, don't fret.

To register, parents should visit their child's assigned school to complete necessary paperwork and determine other requirements to be satisfied. For the student to start his or her schedule on the first day of school, registration for elementary school students must be completed by noon Aug. 20. For middle and high school students registration deadline is 11 a.m. Aug. 19.

To determine to which school your child is assigned, visit http://manateeschools.net and click the "Parents" tab. Look for the "Assigned Schools by Address" tab, and once you've clicked the link, input your address. Results will reflect schools within the home's designated zone.

For more information, call 708-4976.

Schools are also offering open house events to help parents and students transition back into a new school year from summer vacation. Tours through classrooms and meetings with teachers are among a range of activities planned for the countywide events.
