WEEKEND BEST BET: Health & Wellness Expo

To celebrate Lakewood Ranch Medical Center's 10-year anniversary, the hospital promises a bigger event organizers hope will draw in the biggest crowd to date.

The Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Corp.'s Health & Wellness Expo will feature more than 50 booths for attendees to receive free vision, hearing, blood pressure and other screenings, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27.

This year, in honor of the hospital's decade of service, the free event will expand to the north entrance of the hospital to home additional informational and other health-related booths.

To Lori Basilone, director of Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Corp., the event not only commemorates the hospital's presence and building legacy in the East County community, but also hones in on important health topics.

"The expo shows participants how important health is and taking care of yourself," Basilone said.
