Look around today and keep an eye out for some new buying habits from a Lakewood Ranch neighbor.
After all, the winning $800 million Mega Millions ticket in Tuesday night’s drawing was sold at a Wawa store at the corner of State Road 70 and Lorraine Road, the Florida Lottery said.
As of this morning, no one has yet come forward to claim the prize.
It’s the first time a single winner has been drawn in about 18 weeks of twice-a-week games.
It’s the seventh time a Florida player has won the Mega Millions jackpot and it’s the 10th largest jackpot ever. The estimated lump-sum cash payout would be about $344 million
The winning numbers were the white balls 34, 48, 49, 59 and 70, plus the gold Mega Ball 12.
Mega Millions is the only lottery game that has awarded seven jackpots exceeding $1 billion to individual ticket-holders in seven states Florida, South Carolina, New Jersey, Maine, Illinois, Michigan and California. The game’s record jackpot was a $1.602 billion prize won in Florida in 2023.
According to the Florida Lottery, retailer compensation for selling a winning ticket begins at $20,000 and increases by $5,000 with each rollover, up to a maximum of $100,000. If the jackpot winning ticket includes Megaplier, the retailer will receive an additional $20,000. Ahead of the Tuesday drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot rolled over 37 times (spanning 38 drawings). Tickets sold in New York and Illinois were Megaplier winners, though not here.
