Former Manatee School District Finance Director Rebecca Roberts is about to have a more full plate.

Roberts, who occupied her director title for only six months, is now tasked with helping a district with a turbulent financial history, continue its uptick toward maintaining a balanced budget and keeping bonds in order.

The district named Roberts its new chief financial officer Oct. 22. She replaces interim CFO Conley Weiss, and former CFO Michael Boyer, who resigned in June.

The School Board must first approve Roberts for the position at its next meeting, Oct. 28.

Roberts worked closely with Weiss in rerouting the district's funds to achieve the $14.4 million 2013-2014 fund balance.

To Superintendent Rick Mills, Roberts is more than ready to uphold the positive financial state of the distict that Weiss helped accomplish.

"During her time with the school district, Rebecca has proven that she has the knowledge, abilities, and leadership skills to serve as our CFO," Mills said in a press release.

Prior to her years in Manatee County, Roberts served as Baltimore's division chief accountant. She has worked in finance for more than six years.
