The Manatee County Sherriff's Office has levied additional charges against Alan and Sheree Napier, owners of East County-based Napier's Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary.

On Monday night, the sheriff's office charged Alan Napier with one count of scheme to defraud and two counts of unlawful solicitation of funds. Sheree Napier was charged with one count of scheme to defraud and one count of unlawful solicitation of funds. Both have been bonded out of Manatee County Jail.

The charges come in the wake of an ongoing investigation against them. The sheriff's office charged the couple with 15 counts of aggravated animal cruelty April 17, after deputies raided their rescue, located off State Road 64, Feb. 5. At that time, more than 300 dogs, cats, pigs, horses and other animals were confiscated.
