FDOT improves East County road network

The Florida Department of Transportation continues efforts to improve the road network in the East County area.

This week, FDOT will work on three projects in east Bradenton.

Motorists should anticipate shoulder closures for work related to the construction of an Intelligent Transportation System and Satellite Traffic Management Center. The project currently is in the 30-day operational-testing phase for fiber optices communications cable and transmission equipment, closed-circuit television cameras and roadside sensors along 56 miles of Interstate 75 from University Parkway north to about mile marker 228.

This week, the contractor will contine operational testing of ITS devises between mile markers 213 and 228.

Also this week, construction crews also are cleanig ditches along the roadway between State Road 70 and County Road 675. Intermittent lane closures are expected.

Additionally, eastbound and westbound lane closures will occur between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. as construction crews complete a maintenance permit project on State Road 64 at Bayside Community Church.
