Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming issued a commendation to Officer Lee Smith yesterday for his work over the past year ensuring that the Key is secure.

In his commendation, Cumming said:

“I would like to take this opportunity to commend you, Lee Smith, on your outstanding work thorough the past year. You were called upon to assist with a threat assessment for the town and did so without hesitation. You assumed the role as a team leader and worked tirelessly until the job was complete. Additionally, you created computer programs that aided in the compilation of the important data collected for this assignment. You have become a role model for others in the department. Officers like you make Longboat Key a safer place to work and live. The safety of our residents is of utmost concern and your continued efforts are greatly appreciated.”

Smith joined the Longboat Key Police Department in November 2012.
