It’s now safe to hit the waters again at Bird Key Park.

Sarasota County Health Department officials lifted a “no swim” advisory for Bird Key Park west of the Ringling Causeway over the weekend.

The advisory went into effect late Thursday after samples taken Wednesday, Oct. 10 showed an elevated level of enterococci (enteric) bacteria.

Samples taken Friday showed levels that met both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state recreational water standards.
