The Sarasota City Commission will be discussing city manager candidates and roundabouts on U.S. 41 at its regular meeting today at City Hall.

City commissioners will whittle its list of eight city manager finalists down to four or five candidates.

Also on the afternoon agenda is a staff discussion on available options for proposed roundabouts on U.S. 41 at 10 and 14th streets.

Proposals call for U.S. 41 renovations along a 2,600-foot stretch to create a “multi-use recreational trail” that would include wider sidewalks and 4-foot bicycle lanes for a $9.5 million project.

Another cheaper proposal calls for using the existing 6-foot sidewalks for an $8.1 million project.

Construction on the project would begin in July 2016 and finish in June 2017.

The regular meeting begins today at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1565 First St., Sarasota.

Commissioners will also consider:

Approving:
• A proposed sale of 11 city acres on the northeast corner of Beneva Road and Fruitville Road. Benderson Development is interested in the property for a future commercial development.

Discuss:
• An ordinance that creates a comprehensive procurement code.
