Mustangs win All Sports Award

Lakewood Ranch High was awarded the Class 6A Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup, All Sports award May 31.

The trophy is presented annually to the school with the most athletic success.

Lakewood scored 905 points, topping second-place finisher Gainesville High by more than 175 points. Manatee High (309 points, 7A) was the only other Manatee County school to place in the top 10.

The Mustangs won the award after receiving the FHSAA Academic Team Championship last week.
