The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Feb. 10
Short cut
1:42 p.m. — 1400 block of Blue Horizon Circle.
Criminal mischief with property damage. The complainant stated juvenile suspects have been cutting through River Sound for several months. They reportedly jump the 3-foot fence on 18th Avenue East, proceed through neighborhoods and then jump a chain-link fence behind one of the residences in the 1400 block of Blue Horizon Circle. The fence had been bent from this activity. On Jan. 13, it was kicked completely down and the poles supporting the fence were pulled up. It is believed the juveniles are heading for Woodbury Apartments.

Loud and clear
3:53 p.m. — 7300 block of Creekwood Boulevard. Suspicious incidents. While patrolling the area and driving north on Creekwood Boulevard, the responding deputy heard an audible tone going off, which sounded like a smoke detector. He turned around and located seven loss-prevention electronic-security devices still going off with red lights flashing in the median near the bushes. The devices had the black wires cut out. The deputy collected the items using gloves and drove to the nearby hardware store, where he made contact with loss prevention, because these devices are normally found on expensive electronics or tools. It seemed as if large items had probably just been stolen from somewhere. Store officials stated they do not use this style of security device. The deputy also checked with a pharmacy with negative results. The devices were stored in the trunk of his secured patrol car, even though they were still going off audibly. At about 1:30 p.m. the following day, the devices were still going off, making a high-pitch alarm. The devices were placed into the bike barn, where fewer people would be disturbed by the sound.

Feb. 12
Quick trip
7:30 p.m. — 14400 block of State Road 70 East.
Burglary to a conveyance. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s vehicle through an unlocked door. The person(s) then took several items before fleeing the scene.

FULL MOON
5:47 p.m. — 6200 block of State Road 64 East. Disturbance. The deputy responded in reference to an intoxicated male sitting on a bench in front of the store. Upon his arrival, the deputy met the suspect, who was sitting on the front bench with his pants halfway down his legs, exposing his buttocks. The pants had soaked urine on the front of them. Upon speaking with the suspect, it was apparent he was intoxicated and was slurring his speech and mumbling. The deputy informed the suspect to stand up and walk to his vehicle. The deputy had to assist the suspect, because he had trouble walking to and getting into the vehicle. Once the suspect was inside, the deputy spoke to the complainant, who informed him the suspect had been at the store for about four hours and was staggering around the store with his pants halfway down his legs. The suspect was transported to Manatee Glens Hospital for treatment because of his intoxication. The suspect was administered a breath test and his BAC was .132 at the time of the test.
