Former Mayor Ron Johnson joins SBEP committee

Former Longboat Key Mayor Ron Johnson recently joined the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program’s Citizens Advisory Committee.

Johnson served for eight years on the Longboat Key Town Commission and has volunteered at Mote Marine Laboratory for 16 years, including terms as volunteer board president and a voting trustee. During his time as a commissioner, Johnson also served on the SBEP Policy Board.

Johnson spent his early career with IBM and later worked in the housing industry. He and his wife, Jinny, moved to Longboat Key in 1996.

Johnson was honored as the 2009 Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key Citizen of the Year.
