SCORES: Meteors win Georgia-Florida Showdown

The Meteors 9U travel baseball team captured the Georgia-Florida Showdown April 20-22 in Valdosta, Ga.

The top four 9U teams from Georgia and the top four 9U teams from Florida battled it out for the championship.

The Meteors play four pool games — one game against each of the four Georgia teams. Following pool play, the top Florida team and the top Georgia team competed for the Showdown Championship.

The Meteors went 3-1 in pool play, defeating the previously undefeated Atlanta Angels 6-4, the East Cobb Titans 10-6 and the Georgia Bulldogs 13-1. The team’s lone loss was an 8-5 decision to the East Cobb Astros.

The Meteors avenged their pool play loss, coming back from an 11-10 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 12-11.

Championship players include: Chase Yniguez, Connor Krug, Camden Martin, Nicolas Hadad, Jake Krug, Caden Chamberlin, John Schroeder, Sean Vitug, Stone Frishman, Dalton Roby and Satchel Norman.
