The Manatee County School Board on Thursday adopted a $598 million budget for Fiscal Year 2012.

The budget includes a millage increase of 4.86%, which is attributed entirely to requirements set by the state, called Local Required Effort. The school board was required to adopt a 6.91% millage increase as part of its operating fund to qualify for about $68 million in state funding.
