LAKEWOOD RANCH — When Steve Seto moved to Lakewood Ranch, he didn’t have any trouble finding friends who loved baseball, basketball and football.
But finding friends who enjoyed ballroom dancing proved more difficult.
Seto and his wife, Rose, last month launched the Lakewood Ranch Ballroom Dance Club.
“When we came down here (from Connecticut), it had been a long time since we danced,” Seto said. “We thought this would be a great way to start dancing again.”
The group is one of about 35 Lakewood Ranch clubs that will be participating in the second annual Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Corp. Club Day. The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 8, at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., will give residents a chance to see what clubs are available and learn more about them from club organizers.
“Its purpose is really to make it available,” CAC Director Lori Basilone said. “This is a way for folks with similar interests to have an opportunity to speak with the members of the clubs and get a feel for whether it is a good fit (for them). These are social clubs, so I think residents find a connection immediately.”
