Two turtle nests scheduled for excavation

Two turtle nests have hatched on Longboat Key and are scheduled for excavation.

The first excavation will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at 4235 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Park in the guest spaces at Turtle Crawl Inn. The second excavation is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at 4949 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Parking is available at the public beach access at 4795 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Both events will take place rain or shine and will be canceled only in the event of lightning.
