+ Ranch welcomes new culinary school
One of the most exclusive culinary schools in the nation is getting ready to make a debut on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch.

Jim Butler, president of Paradise Homes, plans to open the Viking Culinary School this summer. The 4,000-square-foot facility will feature a live cooking demo area, which will seat 32 people. The school also will host both local and national chefs with different cooking styles. The school will offer samplings, tastings, beer and wine service and hands-on learning classes as well.

“One thing I have seen building new homes on the Ranch over the past year, is that people move here for the unique lifestyle and amenities,” he said. “We see this school as adding one more unique and exclusive amenity to enrich the lifestyle here in Lakewood Ranch.”

Butler also plans to use the facility to host a variety of events such as sushi nights, kids’ camps, pizza and pasta nights and private parties.

The Ranch location will be Viking’s second in Florida.

“We could not be more pleased about this addition to Main Street,” said Brian Kennelly, president of LWR Commercial Realty. “Viking is a company that is very selective about where to open new franchises, and Jim Butler’s commitment to the Ranch and to Main Street speaks volumes about the growing and thriving business environment here.”

Butler also plans to sell Viking appliances and high-end culinary equipment out of the cooking school.
