Family hosts vigil for fallen soldier

The family of fallen Spc. 4 Patrick Lay II, 21, will host a candlelight vigil in his honor tonight at the family's home.

Lay, who attended Braden River High School, died Aug. 11 in an IED attack while assigned as an infantryman in the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division.

A funeral service is expected to be held Saturday at Life Covenant Sanctuary and be followed Lay's burial at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Tonight's vigil will be held at 8 p.m., Aug. 15, at 3230 44th Drive E., Bradenton. Attendees are asked to bring their own candles.
