The two groups exploring health care options for Longboat Key said they are working toward the same goal: increase the quality and viability of health care on Longboat Key.

Board members of the Longboat Key Healthcare Committee hosted "The Future of Health Care on Longboat Key” to explore the possibility of establishing a facility similar to the Boca Grande Health Clinic, a not-for-profit organization that in 2004 established a foundation to raise money for the clinic.

Joseph Curl, who recently established the Bay Isles Health Care Committee with neighbors, discussed a different model in which residents would partner with Sarasota Memorial Hospital to create a satellite clinic on the island.
