Key T-Shirts closes after 25 years

Key T-Shirts, 6838 Gulf of Mexico Drive, has closed after 25 years in Whitney Beach Plaza.

“After 25 years at Whitney Beach Plaza, we have decided to close our doors,” said owner Rick Obeid in a prerecorded message left at the store’s phone number.

According to the message, Key T-Shirts could re-open at another location on Longboat Key next year.

“Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you again,” the message said.

Established in 1985, the beachwear-and-souvenir shop was the plaza’s oldest tenant.
