Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce President Tom Aposporos has asked Town Manager Bruce St. Denis for a town contact to learn more about the Longboat Key trolley system.

Aposporos, who is overseeing a trolley working group hoping to generate revenues for the route through advertising and decrease wait times for the service next year, said the group needs to know as much about the trolley as possible.

Aposporos wrote in an e-mail to St. Denis dated Dec. 14: “One of our efforts is to learn as much about the Manatee and Sarasota systems as we are able so that we can focus our energies accordingly.”

Noting Key residents Jackie Salvino and Steve Jackson are charged with accumulating information about the trolley route in both counties, Aposporos hopes the two can work with a town resident to accumulate information.

St. Denis has informed Aposporos that Public Works Director Juan Florensa has been appointed to work with the committee as a town representative.
