Students at Lakewood Ranch High School showed their spirit of giving, donating more than 500 gifts toward the Salvation Army's Angel Tree project.

Lakewood's Student Government Association set up a Christmas tree in the school cafeteria last week. The tree was decorated with angels, each containing "wish list" items for local children in need.

And in just three days, students donated more than 500 gifts, providing a better Christmas for 160 children in Manatee County.

The Salvation Army picked up the gifts Dec. 5.
