College is often dubbed the best years of a person’s life. For many, those years of freedom are like one continuous party, and Christian and Kim Poslock get to keep the party going every day by each other’s side.

The two met at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. She was a volleyball player, he was a rugby player, and they were good friends — with a hint of something more brewing. They didn’t date, however, until the end of Kim’s senior year (Christian’s junior year) in 2012.

Just days after Kim’s graduation, the two made their relationship official. Nearly four years of dating, two cross-country moves and one English Bulldog (named Paisley after a dorm at Ursinus) later, Christian was ready to pop the question.

Kim has a hectic work life, so when Christian suggested she take a personal day March 18, 2016, she happily obliged. But Christian had bigger plans than just a relaxing day off. The couple enjoyed lunch at Jack Dusty, then took a stroll through Bayfront Park, a favorite spot to walk their dog. Once they reached the dolphin statue at the park’s north end, Christian knelt down, and Kim’s sister, Lindsay Anderson, popped out of the bushes in a raincoat and sunglasses — full incognito mode — to capture the moment. Kim’s mother, Marjie Goldberg, was also hiding on the pier of Marina Jack to get photos from another angle.

The pair always knew they wanted to get married at The Ringling, but being a Sarasota native who’s attended many weddings at the venue, Kim wanted to make sure hers was a little different.

Like many Ringling weddings, the couple had chandeliers in the trees, but they wanted to include even more botanic elements to reflect their personal style. Additional greenery accentuated the existing trees and flowers in the courtyard, and a small pop of color was included with garden roses, anemones and some deep pink and plum flowers.

When asked what his favorite moment of the night was, Christian thought back to how, after their first dance and Kim's father/daughter dance, they invited all of their guests to join them on the dance floor.

“We could barely move from the spot we were standing,” he says. “But we felt all the love at that moment with our family and friends surrounding us.”

Kim was uncharacteristically calm on the wedding day, and any nerves she had disappeared when she first saw Christian in the bell tower of the Cà d’Zan before the ceremony.

Her favorite moment was getting some alone time with Christian during the guests’ cocktail hour.

“You never think about how little time you spend with your spouse during your wedding,” she says. “To have even 10 minutes alone to take in what had just happened was really special and something I’ll never forget.”
