SWEET DEAL
6 p.m. — 2800 block of North Tamiami Trail
Financial Crime: Twice in one day, a man purchased two ice cream cones from a fast-food restaurant and paid with a $20 bill. The price of the ice cream cones was $1. Employees said the man kept looking straight ahead and would not look at the person selling the ice cream. At the end of the day, the manager checked the currency and found it was counterfeit. The next day, the same man came to the drive thru and attempted to pay for two ice cream cones with a $20 bill. A test revealed the bill was counterfeit. An employee told the man the money was fake, at which point the man paid with a $1 bill and left the area.

SCOOT OVER
5 p.m. — 2500 block of North Links Avenue
Property Damage: A man reported his friend for damaging his scooter. He said his friend grabbed the scooter and began smashing it into the ground. When the man asked his friend why he was damaging the scooter, the friend said he was doing it because he was mad. The man said he eventually got his friend to calm down, at which point the friend agreed to pay $100 for the damage done to the scooter. The man asked his friend for the money today, but the friend refused to pay for the damage. The man told his friend he would file a police report, but the friend told the man that he didn’t care.

HOOD ORNAMENTS
9:20 p.m. — 2400 block of South Tamiami Trail
Traffic Crash: A vehicle ran over a Christmas tree that was in the middle of the road. The tree was then stuck underneath the vehicle, which was rendered immobile. The car was sitting in the center of the roadway.

DIRTY LAUNDRY
11:45 p.m. — 1500 block of North Lockwood Ridge Road
Dispute: Two women were in a loud argument at a laundromat. When an officer arrived, he witnessed the two women standing in the parking lot yelling at each other. Officers worked to separate the women, who both reported that the argument was over a dispute between one woman and the other’s sister, who was not present at the laundromat. Both women said the argument was not physical, and one woman agreed to gather her belongings and leave the scene to finish her laundry elsewhere.
