Visitors were abuzz for the 3rd annual Fairy House Festival at Historic Spanish Point over the weekend.

The two-day festival embraces all things fairy related from wings to flower crowns to wands and fairy dust. In the week leading up to the festival residents submitted fairy houses to be displayed along the paths. Participants are encouraged to use all natural materials in their fairy homes and surrounding landscapes.

First-time participant Heidi Bodor visited the festival last year with her daughter Karina. Together they decided to create their own fairy houses for the festival this year.

“The planning part with my daughter [Karina] was my favorite part of the process. She’s like a wizard with the hot glue gun,” Heidi Bodor said. “We walked on nature trails and brought bags of stuff back. There’s so many cool elements to pick from.”

She used sea grape leaves, shells, pinecones that were taken apart to make shingles, egg shells for chairs, Spanish moss and hollowed tree trunks. Bodor's submission was titled Misty Moss Hollow.

“It’s a woodland community that appreciates nature,” Bodor said.
