The members of the Palm Island Neighborhood Association held their annual picnic in the newly renovated Elsie Blair Park Saturday, Feb. 25. The association recently received a grant from the Sarasota County Neighborhood Grant Program to renovate the park, which had become overgrown. Volunteers donated over 500 hours of work clearing overgrowth, adding pavers, creating flowerbeds, constructing new benches and a sign and adding decorative totem statues.

Members of the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club rose bright and early Saturday, Feb. 25, to glean area fruit trees. Eleven teams collected grapefruits, lemons and other fruits to donate to All Faiths Food Bank. Members of the Pine View Key Club joined in the efforts.
