PHOTO GALLERY: garden club annual picnic meeting

Anyone who thought the the Longboat Key Garden Club was a plant-potting group, had the wrong agenda. The group had its annual picnic meeting Tuesday, April 10 at Joan Durante Park pavilion to wrap up the season's accomplishments. The members gave checks to representatives from the organizations they awarded grants, gave awards for the Home and Garden Tour 2012, gave beautification awards and college scholarships. Most of the recipients were present and discussed how the generous funds would help their organization or research. They had a picnic potluck to celebrate following the meeting.

PHOTO GALLERY: Key Club Easter

The islandside golf course was full of hundreds of kids decked in their Easter finest - just to dig in the hay. The children participated in a variety of activities: mini golf, egg decorating, cookie decorating and necklace making before digging in to the hay. Each age grouping had a different hay-shaped letter with eggs buried inside (all together it spelled out LBKC). When they were given the go-ahead, hay went flying everywhere until baskets were full of colorful eggs.
