Jan. 27 More than 'meats' the eye 9:13 a.m. - 2600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Lost Property. A couple called police to report that resort employees were entering their room and taking everything from purses to dirty boxers. Police were able to find the items in question in the room and asked resort employees about the couple's behavior. Five resort employees told police the couple accused them of stealing purses, meatballs left in the refrigerator and other items. No further action was taken.

Home and Garden Tour will be in full bloom

The owners of five unique homes throughout Longboat Key and Lido Shores will be opening their doors to the public during the Longboat Key Garden Club's 35th annual Home and Garden Tour Saturday, March 5.

Bird Key home sells for more than $1.4 million
