PHOTO GALLERY: Luffing Lassies host Rainbow Regatta

The Luffing Lassies, the female sailing group at Sarasota Sailing Squadron, hosted women sailing groups from all over the Gulf Coast in the Rainbow Regatta on April 16. The sailors ranged in age from their 30s up to females in their 80s from ten different sailing clubs. Following the races in the regatta, they joined together for a luncheon at the Sailing Squadron.

PHOTO GALLERY: LBK Historical Society Lecture

Professor Mary Williams spoke to the Historical Society and its guests on April 17 at Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design. Williams teaches history at the State College of Florida, and when she was getting her Masters in History she did papers on Sarasota County. One focus area was on the hardships and tourism of Sarasota in the 1930s. While there was a depression and Sarasotans were experiencing hardships, at the same time the population was increasing.

It has been a great season for the women's golf association. On Tuesday, April 17, The 9- and 18-holers celebrated the end of season with a little bit of bread and putter.
