The Crosley Supper Club held their first event The Masque of the Red Death on Wednesday Oct.31 at the Powel Crosley Estate and Museum. The masquerade was based off the Edgar Allan Poe story The Masque of the Red Death where the main character Prince Prospero holds a masquerade party during a plague. Over 300 people attended the decked out party, complete with actors, music, food, drinks and an amazing view.

The Tabernacle Church hosted the Night of Light on Oct. 31, a free family alternative to Halloween. Nearly 1,000 attendees dressed as superheroes as they enjoyed pony rides, hayrides, carnival games, bounce houses, balloons and rock climbing. Food vendors included Chik-Fil-A and Auntie Anne's. The inaugural Night of Light was in 1987.

At the annual Woodland Fall Festival on Oct. 31 children experienced an alternative to trick-or-treating at a free public event. Around 2,500 people enjoyed a petting zoo, horse rides, jungle gym, rock climbing and games. The same event also occurred at Buffalo Creek Middle School, where Woodland expects to build a second campus.
