Families flock to fall fun on the farm

Thousands of residents from throughout the region flooded the East County for a weekend of fall fun at the Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival Oct. 23-24. The festival featured everything from live music and entertainment to games and, of course, the famous pumpkin patch. The festival will be open for one more weekend, Oct. 30-31.

Decorated from head to toe in all shades of pink, hundreds of East County residents laced up their tennis shoes and gathered at the Sarasota Polo Club for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk Oct. 23. Following the walk, participants enjoyed a survivor reception and brunch.

Lakewood Goddard School enjoys firefighting experience

Children at The Goddard School in Lakewood Ranch enjoyed the sights and sounds of a real fire engine when the school hosted a fire truck visit from Pierce Manufacturing Oct. 8. Children experienced holding and spraying water from a hose and trying on a firefighter's hat, among other activities.

Bridge stunts conclude with fiery explosion (WITH VIDEO)

Sanborn Studios filmed the final action scene of its new action TV series "Miami 24/7" Sunday on the John Ringling Bridge. Some drivers sat in traffic for up to 30 minutes during an exciting stunt when a car was driven off the bridge.

Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch celebrated the 15th anniversary of the community's first home sale with a special fall festival event Oct. 15 at the Sarasota Polo Club. Festivities included live music, hayrides, bounce houses, food and drink, raffles and other activities.

Junior League hosts Oktoberfest

The Junior League of Sarasota celebrated Oktoberfest Sarasota 2010 Oct. 9 at Gold Coast Eagle Distributors in Lakewood Ranch. The event included a silent auction, food and an assortment of beers to enjoy. The money raised by the event went to the Community Outreach Program in Sarasota.
