Disturbance: An officer responded to a report of two luxury vehicles that collided while being moved by a valet service, finding an Audi Q5 and an unspecified Lexus involved.
The valet employee explained he had exited the Audi to move a cone. He said he thought he put the vehicle in park, but apparently had not. It rolled backward and, in the process, made contact with an open door of the unoccupied Lexus next to it.
Both car owners reported minor damage and that the matter would be resolved civilly. Owners of the valet company provided contact information for their insurance company.

Trespassing: Officers were dispatched to a residential building on a report a man was attempting to unlawfully gain access. The complainant reported witnessing the subject pulling on locked door handles at the main entrance and that he was possibly under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
The subject was located walking away from the property by officers. He was cooperative, but appeared to be disoriented, according to the incident report. He was insistent he had been staying at the property the prior two nights, although he was neither a resident nor a guest.
He also believed he was in Miami and was unable to tell officers the current month or year.
The complainant advised the subject, while pulling on the door handles, stated he would kill him, but that he was not in fear of being harmed. The man was taken into custody under the Baker Act and transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Disturbance: While on patrol on St. Armands Circle, an officer was approached by a retail store employee to report a man was outside the entrance of the business barking like a dog. Upon making contact, the subject was belligerent but was not blocking the sidewalk nor preventing customers from entering the store, according to the incident report.
The officer was then dispatched to a service call at nearby Ken Thompson Park, but notified SPD’s Homeless Outreach Team unit to respond to the scene and offer any needed services. At the conclusion of the call to Ken Thompson Park, the officer returned to find another officer speaking with the subject, backing him up for the duration of the contact.
The subject became verbally abusive with officers, making threats and said, “If I get up (euphemism for having relations with one’s mother), you better (similar expletive) run like a (euphemism for having relations with one’s mother)!” A description of how such an individual is supposed to run was not provided.
When asked, the subject confirmed he was aware he was making threats to a law enforcement officer.
At that, the man was taken into custody and, while being booked at Sarasota County Jail, he continued to make threats about harming the officer’s family. Those threats were recorded by the jail’s video equipment.
