Animal-lovers at the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce's latest Off the Clock social were in for a treat.
Attendees took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Humane Society of Sarasota County facilities April 29 at the meetup sponsored by DOGPerfect.Â
Executive Director Connie Boros welcomed guests with the help of her newly adopted dog, Poncho.
Boros highlighted several upcoming events, including a May 16 adoption event with the Sarasota Police Department and Nov. 6 "Unleased in the Kitchen" interactive dinner at Michael's On East.
This is the first time the humane society is holding an interactive dining experience with a chef-inspired, multicourse meal.
Boros thanked attendees for their support of the no-kill shelter.
"The actual cost for us to save a life is $1,490," she said. "We charge anywhere from $50 to $300 for an adoption. So, we really rely on community support and partnerships to continue doing the good work that we do."
