Drivers of both a tractor-trailer and a Ford sedan were taken to the hospital Thursday morning following an Interstate 75 crash triggered by a tire blowout, the Florida Highway Patrol sai

The 27-year-old Sarasota man behind the wheel of the sedan received serious injuries in the 6:53 a.m. crash, as did the 48-year-old Hialeah driver of the Peterbilt tractor-trailer.

According to the FHP, the Sarasota man was driving south on the entrance ramp to the highway at Clark Road when his car experienced a blowout, prompting a swerve into the path of the truck. Though the truck driver tried to evade the car by shifting from the right to center travel lanes, the two vehicles collided.

The truck spun and overturned into the median.

The crash remains under investigation.
