A Longboat Key Fire Rescue team had cause for celebration last week when a resident recognized their rescue efforts with a pizza party.

Alexander Fine presented first responders with a pizza lunch as a thank-you for their assistance in a cardiac-related emergency.

"While we truly appreciate the thoughtful gesture, we're even more grateful for something far more meaningful, seeing Mr. Fine healthy, smiling and able to visit us in person," Station 92 wrote in an online post.

The town offers free CPR and AED training for community members. The next session is 10 a.m. on Aug. 17 at Station 91, 5490 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Space is limited, so call 941-316-1944 or email [email protected] to RSVP.
