Rather than lining up at the gates of the city-owned garages on Palm Avenue, State Street and St. Armands Circle, drivers in Sarasota can head straight in and will have 15 minutes to pay.

Patrons still have the option to pay at physical pay stations, or they can use mobile app or text-to-pay options.

The city noted fees will remain the same — free for the first hour, $2 for the second hour and $1 per hour after that point. Parking for major events is a flat $5 fee and free on Sundays. Even though parking is free that first hour, the city reminds drivers that they must still register upon parking.
