Sarasota murder suspect arrested in Louisiana

Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department on Wednesday charged 41-year-old Djalma Johan Gordon of Sarasota in the murder of a woman in the 2200 block of Ringling Boulevard. 

Gordon was contacted during a traffic stop in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, at approximately 1:05 a.m. Central Standard Time by an officer with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, officers responded to the woman’s residence to conduct a welfare check when they found her deceased. It was determined that the woman had been the victim of homicidal violence. 

Detectives were able to identify Gordon as a person of interest in the crime, after which he was located in West Baton Rouge, where he is currently being detained. The SPD does not believe the crime to be random in nature.
