Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium paid tribute to its scientists working across the globe during its latest Oceanic Evening gala held at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota on Oct. 28.

More than 500 Mote supporters filled the Ritz-Carlton ballroom for the event, which adopted an “Around The World” theme that recognized the research topics being worked on in numerous countries. Those locations included Belgium, Egypt, Haiti, Israel, Japan, Mexico and many more.

Enthusiastic attendees mingled in the Ritz ballroom at the start of the night. Many wore various shades of blue and pinned Mote Marine accessories to their attire.

The assembled audience took to their seats and enjoyed a program that started with a welcome from chairwoman Judy Graham before transitioning to remarks from board chair Sandi Stuart and Mote President and CEO Michael P. Crosby.

Guests later took to the dance floor and rocked out to tunes by EZ Street.

The night’s proceeds benefited Mote Marine’s many programs involving research, ocean health, coral restoration and more.
