Attendees of anything EnsembleNewSRQ know to expect the unexpected.
So why would the new-music group's annual brunch fundraiser, held Oct. 22 at the Founders Club, be any different?
EnsembleNewSRQ CoArtistic Directors Samantha Bennett and George Nickson planned a morning that was both entertaining for new-music lovers and illuminating for what the group has in store for its eighth season.Â
Between courses of butternut squash soup, a brunch buffet and dessert, a string quartet played samples of new work and previewed a piece from the group's Oct. 23 season opener, "Beyond the Veil" to the sold-out crowd of more than 100.
In addition to the lively performances, the group honored Stephen Miles, the founder of New Music New College, and thanked him for his collaborative and welcoming approach.
The event benefited EnsembleNewSRQ's mission of showcasing, creating and promoting contemporary classical music.
