High school football roundup: Week seven

A light week on the Sarasota and East County schedules was tough for two of the three teams that did play.

East County

The Out-of-Door Academy (3-3) lost 8-6 to Bell Creek Academy (2-3) at home. Sophomore running back had ODA's only points on a one-yard touchdown run on the game's opening possession. The Thunder had an extra point and a 47-yard field goal blocked. ODA will next play Cocoa Beach High (1-5) at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 on the road. 

Parrish Community High (5-1) won 23-22 over Mulberry High (4-2) in overtime on the road. Sophomore J'air Speaks had a scoop-and-score fumble recovery. Senior Lane Tomlinson and sophomore Brandon Trucano each had a rushing touchdown. The Bulls will next play Braden River High (2-3) at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at home. 

Braden River High (2-3) had an off week. The Pirates will next play Parrish Community High (5-1) at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 on the road.

Lakewood Ranch High (2-4) had an off week. The Mustangs will return to action at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 against Palmetto High (3-2) at home. 


Sarasota

Riverview High (3-3) lost 20-10 to Berkeley Prep (4-2) on the road. Senior quarterback Braxton Thomas hit junior Jaden Wheeler for a touchdown. Senior kicker Majestic Van Ingen kicked a 32-yard field goal. The Rams will next play Clearwater Academy International (2-3) at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at home. 

Cardinal Mooney High (5-1) had an off week.The Cougars will next play John Carroll Catholic (1-5) at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at home. 

Booker High (4-2) had an off week. The Tornadoes will return to action against DeSoto County High (0-6) at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at home.

Sarasota (0-6) had an off week. The Sailors will next play Venice High (4-2) at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 on the road.
